MA “pizza peel” is a long-handled,
shovel-like tool used by bakers to move bread/pizzas into and
out of an oven. My Pizza Peel’s menus are printed on wooden
pizza peels and hung on display inside the restaurant for
customers to order from.
The interior space has pine hardwood floors, red pizzeria
tables, green and red tiled counters and aluminum chairs—plus
four authentic pizza ovens, churning out some of the best pizza
ever to hit Denver.
As a Grand Opening promotion, My Pizza Peel is hosting “Take a
Slice Out of Homelessness”—an event on March 2 where patrons can
come in and try a slice of a pizza and a soft drink for free,
although a donation to Denver’s Road Home is encouraged
(suggested donation: $5 per person). Denver’s Road Home staff
will be on hand during the lunch hours of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to
answer questions about the Mayor’s Ten Year Plan to End
Homelessness. The “Take A Slice Out of Homelessness” event will
run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on March 2 at My Pizza Peel. All
donations will be given to Denver’s Road Home.
“During these challenging economic times, there has never been a
more important time to help this homeless and the Denver
community is responding,” said Jamie Van Leeuwen, PhD, executive
director of the Mayor’s Office of Community Impact/Denver’s Road
Home. “From PJ’s to Pizza, the Denver community continues to
embrace Denver’s Road Home, our ten-year plan to end
homelessness, and remain focused on housing, services and
prevention to minimize the impact of this economy.”
On March 2, those who stop in to “Take a Slice Out of
Homelessness” will have a chance to win prizes from The Magnolia
Hotel.
Proprietor John Keiley, formerly of New York, is opening My
Pizza Peel after opening and running several other successful
fast-casual restaurants. Keiley founded The Garlic Knot
restaurants in the Ken Caryl and Roxborough Park neighborhoods,
and owns Johnny’s New York Pizza in Lakewood. My Pizza Peel will
be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and
from 10 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
